The CKF of Central Indiana Local Coalitionheld its annual “Back to School Family Fun Day” on Saturday, August 2, 2008. Again, the event broke records with attendance reaching 16,000 (a 17% increase from 2007). The community support of the event along with coalition member sponsorship helped to make the event a success. Children were screened for various health needs and parents were provided with information on Hoosier Healthwise, Health Advantage and the Healthy Indiana Plan.

In addition to reaching more children than in the past with their Back to School Campaign, the Central Indiana Coalition has made great strides to increase the number of enrollment locations. From 2007 to 2008, on-site enrollment locations increased from sixty-four to seventy, respectively. Through their efforts, more eligible families have been contacted and enrolled in Hoosier Healthwise. Coalition members believe that complacency will not help to serve new families. In the upcoming year, the coalition plans to expand its efforts to enroll more families by actively seeking interested community partners that will support its efforts to find families in need of services.
