Annual Meeting Highlights Coalitions and Partners as Key to Reaching the Uninsured

“Coalition partners are the eyes and ears on the ground”, was the message from Ruth Kennedy, LaCHIP Director & Medicaid Deputy Director for the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals.

At the CKF-IN 6th Annual Meeting & Luncheon, her keynote address inspired the audience of almost 200 with how important coalition partners are to Louisiana’s Medicaid and SCHIP programs and the significant progress that has been made to enroll and retain eligible children and families in health coverage.

Through the help of 11 regional coalitions contracted by the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, outreach and enrollment activities are conducted statewide. As Ms. Kennedy shared, the department’s investment in the regional coalitions allows the Medicaid and SCHIP programs to reach and help more children and families than would be possible with just department staff.
