The 2017 Governor & Cheri Daniels School Health Award Winner is Kristen Forbes EVE Foundation

6/27/2017

The Indiana School Health Network presented the Governor & Cheri Daniels School Health Award to the Kristen Forbes EVE Foundation during the annual School Health Conference Tuesday before an audience of more than 350 professionals concerned with the health of Hoosier students.

Kirk and Brenda Forbes created the foundation to honor their daughter, Kristen, who died of cervical cancer at age 23. Annual over 11,000 women in the U.S. are told they have cervical cancer and more than 4,000 die from the disease (Centers for Disease Control, 2013). The Foundation’s goals are to educate women and men about HPV, its tie to cervical cancer, the ability to screen for HPV through PAP smears and the HPV test, and HPV vaccines. Because of epidemic levels of HPV infection and the under-utilization of the HPV vaccine, the need for the work of the Kristen Forbes EVE Foundation is great. The Foundation’s team is passionate about protecting young women from HPV and cervical cancer and are driven by their mission: Educate & Screen. Vaccinate. Eradicate.
