Ellen Zimmerman

Ellen Zimmerman has been employed with the Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services for over 30 years.  She is the Director of Aging and Community Services. Through Ms. Zimmerman’s leadership, Area Five serves as the lead agency for the Covering Kids & Families of Area Five—Cass, Fulton, Miami, Howard and Tipton counties.

Area Five is a Community Action Agency and an Area Agency on Aging that is administered by a local board of directors and operates on a variety of state, federal and local funding streams.  The agency provides programs and services to individuals and families within a six-county area that includes Cass, Fulton, Miami, Howard, Wabash and Tipton counties.   Some of their services include:  information and assistance, Head Start, Healthy Families, WIC, Child Care voucher program, energy assistance, weatherization, outreach and enrollment services for public health coverage programs, senior nutrition, individual development account program, case management, nursing home pre-admission screening and ombudsman, small business development and several other supplemental programs that assist and strengthen families.

Ms. Zimmerman serves as Co-Chair of the Governance Committee and has been on the CKF-IN Board of Directors since the creation of the Robert Wood Johnson initiative in 1999.  Ms. Zimmerman serves as an Emeritus Board member.
