Laurie Weinzapfel is the Health Equity Officer for United Healthcare Community and State. In this role Laurie provides oversight and direction in addressing health disparities for UHC’s Indiana Medicaid programs. Laurie brings 18 plus years of Medicaid health plan experience that includes leadership roles in Customer Service, Outreach and Quality. She also has experience working in DFR, DCS and in direct service with children and families in residential treatment.
Laurie has bachelors and master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University. She serves on several community boards, including NASW, Indiana Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) committee, the Indiana University School of Social Work Alumni Association, and the Indianapolis Chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW), Speedway Parks Board, and Family to Family.
Laurie has extensive history working with and supporting Covering Kids and Families, having been involved since the early years when the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and local partners initiated CKF in Indiana. She has previously served on the CKF Schools Committee. Laurie joined the CKF-IN Board of Directors in 2022. She represents the United Healthcare as a Permanent member.
