In 2013, Doris started with Covering Kids & Families of Indiana as Director of School Health Services for the CMS Connecting Kids to Coverage Grant. She worked with grant partners to plan, execute and evaluate outreach and enrollment strategies linked to schools. When the grant ended in the spring of 2016, Doris filled a new CKF position as Director of Marketing and Community Engagement supporting both the state office and local coalition efforts to build the CKF brand. When the state office reorganized to better support its growing presence around the state, Doris moved into a new position as Regional Director for Northern Indiana in July of 2018. “I am passionate about healthcare coverage for all and feel honored to support local coalitions so they can go out every day to educate and enroll Hoosiers.”
Doris started her career in the Peace Corps and is committed to the type of grassroots outreach and advocacy CKF provides. She has 25+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector including serving as Executive Director of Volunteer Southwest Michigan, Regional Manager for the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and Lead Project Coordinator for the original B.A.B.E. project in South Bend. Doris has a Masters in Public Administration from Western Michigan and a Bachelors in Business from Indiana University Bloomington. When she is not at work, you can find her just north of the border in Michigan with her husband Michael reading, gardening, volunteering, planning trips, or visiting family.
